Andreus-Kenedit
“Street Troubadour” (2003)   The Dialogue Group

The world is swinging to the new sounds given out by those artists considered Neo-Soul. These artists range from acts like: KINDRED; MAXWELL; DEANGELO; ANGIE STONE; DWELE; and REMY SHAND, just to name a few.

There’s a newcomer that is bringing a new flavor to the game. That newcomer is Andreus on Light Year Entertainment and the Dialogue Group. This new voice to the genre is a remarkable change to the Neo-Soul area. He sings ghetto anthems that many of us grew up listening to in the late 80’s with Grand Master Flash and Marvin Gaye. The songs talk about living in the ghetto and being in love with no money and having to see the harsh effects of poverty and not have the ability to change it those effects.

If there were two prodigal Neo-Soul sons, Andreus would make the third. When you listen to his CD you’ll see the essence of great soul fathers like Smokey Robinson, Nat King Cole, Luther Vandross, and the ever-passionate Prince. Never in all my years of listening to Neo-soul have I ever heard the voice of the ghetto sung so elegantly since Tupac, God rest his soul, rapped to all of our souls and hearts.

I am giving this CD a rating of 3.0. I like him, but his style is a little too laid back. If I was cleaning the house I would throw this CD in my system and clean and bop my head to it while I worked.

Be on the lookout cause Anthony Hamilton, Dwele, and now Andreus are going to make a big noise if America doesn’t close their ears to good music.
